A great many photos of these battleships that I have never seen in other publications. There are also some good summary tabulations of the characteristics (dimensions, displacements, armament, armor thicknesses, engine horsepowers, and so forth) of the ships at various stages of reconstruction in their careers.
This book is an incredible resource for anyone who is interested in the Nagato and Mutsu. The two ships are shown throughout their careers, and you can easily follow along through the changes that were made to the two ships. Each photo is captioned with an explanation of what you are seeing and how it relates to the evolution of the ship. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the Nagato class, or the Imperial Japanese Navy in general.
Thank goodness more good books are slowly becoming available about the ships of the IJN. this one on the nagato class was on a par with the equivalent one on the yamato,s by same author, in that it is researched well,has good[some unseen by me] pics,and is set out well.I regard it as a must have for any serious fan of the Great IJN ships.
